HEP is Minnesota Hockey's unprecedented program that will begin to move the game of hockey in a more positive direction. Minnesota Hockey and Mayo Clinic Sports Medicine Center are dedicated to ensuring a safe and fun athletic experience for Minnesota youth hockey players. In order to accomplish this, HEP (Hockey Education Program) will integrate age-appropriate and progressive skill development, coaching excellence and measurability and accountability through Fair Play.
New in the 2007-2008 season, District's 4 and 8 will work together to provide "sub districts" with it's teams. The main goal is to lessen travel distances and the large amount of administration that comes along with large districts. Though some teams will see little change in their schedules, others will see themselves playing teams they usually don't see during the year. After the '07-'08 season both districts, along with Minnesota hockey, will sit down and assess the functionality of this merger.
