Ops Mgr Duty List

What Is This Page?

This page was added in hopes of continuing the communication flow between MAHA members and the Operation's Manager. Since the Operation's Manager (OM) is a full time, paid position, I thought it would be beneficial to let you know what a typical work week looks like for me in an effort to clear up some questions people may have.

Please understand that circumstances change, association needs change, etc...so this is a vague overview, but I do think it is important to document. Please feel free to email me at any time with questions or clarifications on things. I would rather attempt to explain various circumstances with our members up front than to allow misinformation to circulate throughout our association.

Thanks for your time and understanding....and hopefully this will help.

Dan Devenport, Operation's Manager

Weekly Breakdown

Below I have listed a tab for each day of the week to better help you understand how I spend my time. It is quite often that I hear people say, "what does he do with his time?", or "is he earning his money?". Hopefully this breakdown will help you understand what a "typical" week for me looks like during the year. Understand that with each week, and each month, come different needs in different areas, so it does fluctuate considerably during the year.

All told, it is pretty common for me to work in the area of 65-80 hours a week from August 15th-March 31st. Many of my days begin at 8:00 and end when I leave the rink at 10:00 that night. What you will not see much of in these breakdowns, however, is the area I spend a lot of my "miscellaneous" time on....responding to the needs and issues within our association. A significant amount of my time is spent answering questions, aiding board members and committee chairs, responding to needs and issues which arise, etc. Those are simply areas I can't predict or document.
